THINGS I'M GREAT AT
A short summary
TEACHING CREATIVE WRITING
Few things bring me as much joy as helping another person improve their craft. So far I've held writing workshops about using all your senses in your writing, finding inspiration from mundane things, and world-building. It's very important for me to ensure accessibility when it comes to my courses. After all, everybody can, and definitely should feel free, to write. Besides working with students, I also have a instructive book about using your senses in creative writing in the works.
Both in writing and spoken word, clear communication is the life blood of any successful interaction. Written messages need to be unambiguous and clearly laid out. When speaking, the people participating in the conversation must take care not to assume that they know the meaning behind the other persons words. Asking questions and requesting clarifications is key.
WORKING WITH AND IN GROUPS
While I am very capable of working alone, I do love it when I get to do it in a group instead. Giving feedback and building ideas together can be incredibly fruitful. I also feel natural leading a group. Even in my free time I greatly enjoy group activities. There's the simpler things, like playing games that require people to work together in order to succeed. Also the more complex, such as the around 20 people indie computer game project that I participate in as a lead writer and a designer.
HANDLING THE SITUATION
Through handling drunk clients in customer service, being an admin at an age 19+ Discord art server and much more, I've developed a keen sense for defusing situations. I've also learned to get to the bottom of things in such a way (when the situation requires it) that grudges will have a hard time forming.
WORKING WITH TEXT
Be it prose or poetry, fact or fiction, I've got what it takes. I know how to adjust my tone to the audience, and how to keep the reader's attention. You can read my writing in my blog and the works-section. Besides producing text, I also excel in translating (Finnish to English and English to Finnish) and proofreading texts. There's puzzle-like quality to it I enjoy very much.
GETTING THE JOB DONE
I'm a highly motivated and conscientious person. I love a job well done, but I know when to stop polishing a task. An important part of any job is agreeing to the parameters first, and then adjusting them if necessary. This way the end result is just what is needed and wanted.
I will gladly answer any questions and inquiries. I'm always eager for new opportunities!
